Your assignment is to choose a modern playwright from the anthology. You will then look up at least two contemporary reviews of your author’s plays. Summarize the critical reception of your playwright’s work, using specific examples and quotations from the reviews that you have found. Finally, evaluate whether in hindsight your playwright’s reputation is deserved.

Produce your essay produced on a word processor, double-spaced with one-inch margins in a serif 12-point font. Your essay should include an introduction, a body paragraph summarizing each individual review, a paragraph that collectively summarizes the critical reception of all of the reviews you have summarized, and a conclusion that evaluates whether that critical reception is accurate and deserved using specific examples and quotations from the text in the anthology to support your opinion. Your submission has a maximum length of 1,500 words. Cite your sources using MLA-style documentation. Include your name, the date, and the course number and section in the upper left corner. Next, center the title of your paper on a line by itself, and then begin your essay. You may staple your submission in the upper left corner, but do not include any kind of cover or folder. Include a footer with your last name and the page number centered at the bottom of each page. You may omit the footer on the first page.
